A Quick Word

"Worrying is like a rocking chair: it gives you something to do, but it gets you nowhere." — Erma Bombeck

Worry. It's a word that means being anxious or troubled about something that has happened or may never happen. I believe it's also a word that deep down means we don't fully trust God. We as humans go through so much on a day to day basis. When issues arise, temptation comes, or life throws a speed bump in this thing called life, we tend to worry. When that "something" happens to us or someone we love, we take the reigns and try to control the situation. Sometimes we don't even realize we are doing it. Then our focus is on the problem that is or may never come. We aren't looking to God anymore for help. Worry comes down to focusing. When the issues arise are we going to focus on the problem or the problem solver, God? Jesus tells us not to worry about everyday life. He knows all and IS all that we need. In the end, why let worry take over your life? Lean on Jesus, give everything to Him and be at peace. Is it easy? Not always, but I can tell you that leaving those worries and cares to Him will help you experience a peace you can never attain from this world. Jesus is your answer.

Matthew 6:25-33

New Living Translation

25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? 28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? 31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God[a] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
